Recommended:

  1. Pick one Practice Short for the week.

  2. Watch it or listen to it at the start of each day; before you get going or on the move.

  3. If you can, watch or listen to it again whenever you can spare 3 - 5 minutes, up to five times per day.

  4. Secretly practise the technique it explains, throughout the day, while doing whatever you’re doing. Explore its application in different activities.

  5. Forget it often, and not for long.

  6. Come back to the same Practice Short after a few weeks, after a few other Practice Shorts.

  7. At the end of each week, take a moment to consider what difference it made, what your current favourite technique is, and to pick a Practice Short for the next week.

Practice Shorts

This is a multi-dimensional thing, and as you use Practice Shorts to build your picture, and the strength of its dots, you’ll get more and more insights into how they join up. That’s literally what “insights” are; and they’re behind those crucial “Aha!” moments you can expect, if you persevere. Your own insights are an absolutely essential part of achieving real change and releasing your full potential. We deliberately pack quite a lot into our Practice Shorts in ways specifically designed to help with this. The other crucial element is “practice”, or “attention density” as some neuro scientists call it, which is up to you!

Visit Virtual Dojo Sessions regularly to scan the list and see if there’s something new that catches your eye, or something to re-visit. Coming back to an element after working on others, and seeing it differently this time, is one of the ways you’ll realise you’re moving forwards. That’ll continue as long as you stay curious.

Relaxation 101 - 29mins

Explains the basics of Relaxation and introduces two techniques: Centering and Expanding Muscles. Watch it as many times as you want. When it comes to Relaxation Technique, repetition will be highly beneficial.

Further Practices

Active Relaxation is where we start getting proactive about tackling stressors, or as we look at it, tackling the things that drain our energy. It’s really about developing the things that energise us. This is where we skill-up for challenges we’ll encounter sooner or later

These two short videos were part of a series we made a few years ago as part of the Spring Project. They were made for a Campus Party which is an annual international technology event. These shorts were screened on the big screen in the main arena at The O2 betweeen events on stage. The Spring Project worked with around 5,000 under-employed or unemployed graduates, developing skills like presence and value creation, and helped many find dream jobs, or get jobs they had a lot more energy for.

The Admired list is an exercise designed to help reveal some of the deep drivers all too easily forgotten about as we grow up, and to reconnect with some of the sources of energy we all have. It’s not an easy or a short exercise, and it can still be useful after several years. It is designed to help uncover answers to some of the questions raised by the two videos above.
