Dynamic Relaxation Technique

Dynamic Relaxation Technique is at the heart of what Isshinkai offers. Applicable to any part of your life, or all of it, this is a type of Relaxation active when ‘doing’ and ‘being’.

It releases hidden reservoirs of strength and resilience where and when it’s needed, not just when you stop. DRT is rooted in our Aikido, but you don’t have to do Aikido to benefit.

It is used in its own right, to boost work, sports, and life enjoyment and performance, or general wellbeing.

Dynamic Relaxation Technique is the set of techniques and skills behind advanced Isshinkai Aikido that we’ve taught to a wide range of people at all levels of Aikido, sports and business. DRT was developed by Denis Burke, Founder of Isshinkai, over four decades. It builds on Koichi Tohei Sensei’s Ki Method, the teachings of Sensei K Williams and Koretoshi Maruyama Sensei, and various other avenues of research, including some of the discoveries of modern neuro-science. After working with thousands of people, these techniques have been shown to bring measurable results in relaxation, performance, recovery and injury prevention. The same techniques can be used to develop greater calmness-in-action, presence of mind, stability and balance.
