The Isshinkai Association

Aikido Yuishinkai

The name "Isshinkai" means "One Heart Society," and reflects a belief that personal development takes place most healthily in the context of a community, not in isolation.  The Association's role is to safeguard opportunity for its individual members, be they adults or children, students or teachers.  To do this it must assure the quality of Aikido practiced within it, and nurture its community of members by promoting respectful relationships.  These things, in turn, are built on teaching-standards and clear leadership.

All those licensed to teach within the Isshinkai Association hold Fixed-Term Teaching Licenses, renewed annually, which offer the best possible guarantee of the highest standards and up-to-date practises with regard to:

  • Technical Standards

  • Teaching Techniques

  • Code of Conduct

  • National and Isshinkai Teaching Qualifications

  • Continual Professional Development

  • Current Policies, including H&S, Equity and Child Protection

  • CRB Checks

  • Insurance Cover

In other words, a "Golden Standard."
